Note

This research was conducted when Y. Mushiake was a Research Associate at the Ohio State University (オハイオ州立大学) as a Fulbright Research Scholar in the 1950s. In connection with this research he studied spherical vector-mode functions and spherical Hankel functions in detail. By making use of his advantage in this field, he developed his research up to the electromagnetic wave scattering, and he published the following paper in the Journal of Applied Physics.

Y. Mushiake: “Backscattering for arbitrary angles of incidence of a plane electromagnetic wave on a perfectly conducting spheroid with small eccentricity”, Journal of Applied Physics, Vol. 27, No. 12, pp. 1549-1556, December 1956.
